Download Calico

Windows will warn you the first time. Calico is not code-signed yet, so Windows shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. Click More info, then Run anyway. You can confirm you have the genuine file first by checking the SHA-256 below.

What happens next

Run CalicoSetup.exe No installer wizard and nothing to choose. A single window opens.
Paste your licence key The key from your purchase email, in the form CAL-XXXXX-…. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for — the key is redeemed the first time you use it.
It downloads and verifies Calico About 500 MB. Every piece is checked against a signature before anything is written, and again before anything is launched.
Calico opens Signed in already. Next time, run the same installer again — it keeps itself up to date and re-uses what it has already downloaded.

Verify your download

Optional, and worth doing if you did not download from this page. The published SHA-256 of CalicoSetup.exe is:

Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run:

certutil -hashfile CalicoSetup.exe SHA256

The value it prints should match, ignoring spaces and letter case. Also served as a plain file at CalicoSetup.exe.sha256.

Before you start

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. Calico does not run on macOS, Linux, or 32-bit Windows.
About 1 GB of free disk space for the download and the installed files.
A licence key. If you have paid and cannot find yours, check the order confirmation email, then contact support.
Keep the installer. It is also the launcher — run it whenever you want to start Calico.

If something goes wrong

Windows says “Windows protected your PC”

Expected. Calico is not code-signed, so Windows SmartScreen warns on a file it has not seen many times before. Click More info and then Run anyway.

If you would rather confirm the file first, check its SHA-256 against the value above.

My antivirus removed the file

Some antivirus products flag unsigned installers that download their own content. Restore the file from quarantine, or allow it and download again. If your antivirus will not let you, contact support and we will help.

It says my licence key is not valid

Keys are upper-case and case matters — if you retyped it, try again in capitals. Otherwise check for a missing character; the key is long and easy to truncate when copying. A trailing space is fine, we ignore it.

If the key was already used on another computer, it is bound to that machine. Contact support to move it.

The download stops partway, or is very slow

Run the installer again. It keeps what it already downloaded and resumes rather than starting over.

It says the installer has been modified

Calico checks its own file before it runs. If it refuses, the copy you have is not the one we published — delete it and download again from this page. Do not use a copy from anywhere else.
